The St. Andrew’s Ball has once again come and gone. My thanks to the MacKay Brothers for their efforts in playing for us. They worked non stop for the evening.
Also my thanks to the members of the committee who worked so hard to make the evening such a success.
It was good to see so many new faces at The St. Andrew’s Ball, not that I am objecting to the usual “weel kent faces” that once again supported the evening.
A good turnout ensured a party atmosphere and the feedback we have received indicated that everyone enjoyed their evening.
In particular thanks to Doreen Wilson who was there once again to get us through the Caledonian Welcome Dance. She is the only person in the Western World who understands the steps and she is sorely missed when she is not there to get us through it.
Also I must thank Stelios Stylianou of A.C. Christofides Ltd. for his contribution and continued sponsorship of our events and his donation of whisky to the tables.
Although Christmas has not yet arrived the Committee and I have to start thinking about the Burns Supper and planning the event.
In line with our recent efforts to fight the credit crunch, we will once again be subsidising the cost of the event from Society Reserves.
Details of the Burns Supper and the menu are shown later in the Christmas issue of the Glen.
We hope that you will appreciate the value for money that this represents and support the event by your attendance.
All this leaves me to do is to wish all our Members, their families and friends a Very Merry Christmas and a happy and Prosperous New Year.
Santa has already delivered a new set of golf clubs for yours truly
