It has now been a couple of months since my election as the new Chieftain and we now have a new committee in place.
Scott Kennedy, Andrew Darling, Margaret Whitelaw and Karen Mills have retired from the committee.
Once again I want to thank all for their time and efforts in the past year but I want in particular to thank Scott, Margaret and Andrew who have served on the committee for many years and in a
variety of roles.
The Society owes them special thanks.
Information on the new committee was issued to those on the e-mail and the postal list in early May and details are also shown on the back of The Glen Magazine.
The “Contact Us” page on the website has also been updated accordingly.
We have had a couple of successful Society Events since my election, the Car Rally and the Bob Laing Memorial Golf Tournament at Vikla.
We had an excellent turn-out for the Car Rally and we had a lively and competitive golf tournament. Reports of both events are in the Summer issue of The Glen.
Margaret Wright, our Etertainment’s Officer, contacted members earlier this year asking them if they wanted a Summer Ceilidh but this generated no interest.
My objectives as the new Chieftain are to increase our membership and to generate more participation by the membership in the events of the Society.
With regard to membership we have cancelled the joining fee so it is now fifty percent cheaper for new members. Also if your non Scottish friends would be interested in joining then they would be very welcome, they just require an interest in events with a Scottish flavour.
With regard to events I think we are doing everything that is possible in terms of communications about forthcoming events via e-mail, post and our website.
We are always interested in new events so if you as members have suggestions for events that you think would be suitable for the Society than please contact Margaret Wright.
