Burns Night
by
Ed Findlay
On the 28th of January, eighty-two folk gathered at the Elias beach hotel to celebrate The birth of Robert Burns, our national poet
After the soup, the Haggis was piped in, and after a fine rendering of ‘An address to a Haggis’ by Ed Findlay, the poor creature was well and truly stabbed, and toasted by the lovely supply of grouse supplied by Stelios and his company ACM Christofides, thank you Stelios, once again you have came up tops for us.
After the Royal toast, Don Campbell Thompson gave us a fine example of
his knowledge of Burns, well done Don, you have a great knowledge of the Bard,
and we are lucky that you were available
Then we went on to the raffle draw, I won’t mention who won the star prize as it
may prove embarrassing, or the fact that his wife drew the ticket.
Thanks again to all the folk who donated prizes, Elias Beach hotel, Griffin Golf,
Four Seasons Hotel, Dionysus Winery, and Andy’s hairdressing shop.
