St. Andrews Ball 2007
By Leeann Kennedy
The St. Andrews Ball took place at the Mediterranean Beach Hotel in Limassol, on Saturday 1st December. It was my first St. Andrews Ball and I really did not know what to expect, although I was looking forward to a right good old Highland fling. For years I have heard such wonderful stories of past Balls from the Right Honourable Chieftain and his good lady, who I must say have an absolutely wonderful and exquisite daughter! That’s me for anyone who doesn’t know!!!
The night started with a drinks reception where members and non-members got acquainted and re-acquainted. Everyone looked fabulous in all his or her finery… However I’m sure you will agree…us Scotch folk don’t half scrub up well.
Being the Chieftain’s daughter, I was extremely honoured and proud to be seated at the top table. The Chieftain and his guests, who included the British High Commissioner Peter Millet and his wife June, were sworn in by the band to rapturous applause. Once the Chieftain’s Welcome was over it was time for the dancing to begin…and dance we did!
